Pacific Crest Pioneer Band: Acoustic American Music and Bluegrass Kay Waite, Darrell Johnson and Tim Dawdy
Listen

Northwest music, featuring:
Kay Waite, Darrell Johnson, & Tim Dawdy

The Pacific Crest Pioneer Band combines Bluegrass, Irish, Old-time, and Western traditions into their Northwest musical sound.

Flat picker, Darrell Johnson is a longtime Northwest bluegrass favorite. Darrell's versatility with the guitar and ability to play "anything with strings" sets him apart from many entertainers. Tim Dawdy (the best autoharp playing fire chief in the world) is one of the few autoharp players anywhere that can take bluegrass breaks on the autoharp. Kay Waite (The Girl of the Golden West) is a Western bass player and country singer that has switched back to the acoustic scene. We are often joined by Irish fiddler Franz Sanger. Franz is a talented fiddle and mandolin player. He is a driving force for dance and Old-time music.

The Pacific Crest Pioneer Band also hosts the extremely popular Beginner's Bluegrass class held at the Old Liberty Theater in Ridgefield, Washington. This weekly group lesson and jam is designed to allow new players to learn the basics of bluegrass music. Guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, bass and autoharp are taught in a friendly group setting.
